Activities

The organization’s activities are generally related to social service, mutual assistance, and the protection of pensioners’ interests. Its main activities are as follows:

Social and cultural activities

• Programmes related to festivals, national holidays and special occasions.
• Celebrating the annual get-together on 17th December as Pensioner’s Day and honoring all the members of the organization who have completed the age of 70 years, 75 years, 80 years, 85 years, 90 years and 95 years on this day.
• Holding the monthly meeting of the organization regularly on the second Saturday of every month and resolving the problems of the members present in it and making them aware of the orders issued from time to time by the Railway Administration. Those who have their birthday in the previous month and those members who have donated Rs. 1000/- or more are honored and given certificates. Tributes are paid to the members or any of their family members who have passed away.

Health and Wellness Activities

• Health check-up camps (blood sugar, BP, eyes, dental, etc.).
• Yoga and pranayama sessions.
• Health awareness lectures (Diet, Lifestyle, Senior Citizen Care).

Educational and information activities

• Information on the latest rules and orders related to railway pensions.
• Workshops for pensioners (Digital Banking, Online Pension Portal usage).
• Technology awareness (Smartphone, UPI, Aadhar linking).

Support and counseling activities

• Guidance for resolving pension and other issues.
• Legal advice or documentation assistance.
• Support to needy pensioners or their families.
• Annual income tax filing camps are organized for members.
• Senior members who are unable to submit their life certificates at the bank are visited at their homes and digital life certificates are generated and submitted online.
• Members’ cases are sent to the Pension Court, which is held on December 15th and June 15th, for resolution.
• The organization is ensuring FMA approval for all members.
• Umeed cards and e-UMIDs are also being created for the organization’s members.
• Downloading PPOs from the ARPAN portal and providing them to the organization’s members. The organization processes medical reimbursement claims for members who require them.

Community Service

• Inspiration for blood donation, eye donation, or organ donation.
• Tree plantation and environmental conservation activities.

Recreational and sports activities

• Short tours/picnics.
• Light games for senior citizens (card games, carrom, chess).
• Laughter club activities.

Overall, the objective of Retired Railway Pensioners Society is to organize the pensioners, make their life active and joyful and continue to contribute to the society.
